The editorial process begins with the submission of the manuscript via email to: espiritu@istomas.org.
The author will receive an acknowledgment of receipt along with a description of the editorial process the manuscript will undergo.
Within a maximum of 15 days, the Editorial Committee will assess whether the manuscript complies with the aims and guidelines of the journal, and will inform the author whether the submission may proceed to the next stage. If the submission is not accepted, the author will be notified in writing, with an explanation of how the text fails to meet the publication standards or does not align with the journal’s scope
As stated in the publication guidelines, Espíritu publishes three types of contributions: research articles, notes and discussions, and book reviews. The Editorial Board will assess the viability of notes and reviews and will inform the author of its decision, including any comments or suggested modifications. Expert reviewers may be consulted in this process.
In the case of research articles, all submissions accepted in the initial screening will undergo a double-blind peer review by two specialists. Within a period of two to six months from the date of submission, the author will be informed whether the article has been accepted or rejected, along with the reviewers’ comments. For more information, please consult the section “Peer Review Process.”
If revisions are required as a condition for publication, the author will be given a period of between two weeks and one month to submit the revised manuscript. The Editorial Board will then verify whether the revised text meets the necessary requirements and, if so, will notify the author within a maximum of one month of the final acceptance and the expected publication date.
