Abstract:<\/h4>\n

In contemporary psychology there have been two
\nopposing solutions to the problem of the relationship
\nbetween person and personality. The first and
\nmost popular is dependent on the development of
\nempiricist philosophy. It\u2019s the total identification
\nbetween person and the operating structure obtained
\ntrough biological and psychosocial development.
\nThus, they deny the substantiality of person,
\nand states that person emerges when personality
\nhas been developed. The other solution is
\nmore in line with German philosophy and
\nKantian rationalism. It consists of the distinction
\nbetween psychological and personality ontological
\npersonality, so much so that it appears that these
\nare two completely separate things. This article
\nproposes a solution to the problem in the light of
\nthe Thomistic metaphysics of person, which
\navoids the problems of both positions, and saves
\nboth substantial and historic character of the human
\nperson.<\/p>\n
