This article analyzes how Modernity
\nand Protestantism relate to each other in
\nBalmes, de Maistre and Taparelli\u2019s work.
\nAccording to Balmes, the negation of truth
\nthat Protestantism\u2019s religious subjectivity
\nimplies is the basis of modern atheism and
\nliberalism. To de Maistre, modern individualism
\ncannot be understood without
\nthe negation of the authority made by Protestantism
\nand, according to Taparelli,
\nProtestantism\u2019s subjectivity allowed the
\nliberalization of the juridical and political
\norder. All this has led to the sovereignty of
\nthe individual, which reduces man to his
\nown power possibilities and dehumanize
\nhim.<\/p>\n

This article analyzes how Modernity and Protestantism relate to each other in Balmes, de Maistre and Taparelli\u2019s work.
