Abstract:<\/h4>\n

This paper points to the perennial value of
\nSaint Augustine\u2019s reflection on the Two Cities
\nand their struggle. First, the article underlines
\nsome conflicts in that historical moment
\n\u2013both in Rome and in the Church-.
\nSome notes of the Ancient World mentality
\nand its crash with the new ideals of the
\nChristian faith are suggested as causes of
\nthose conflicts. In a second step, the article
\nfocuses on some key points of Augustine\u2019s
\ntheology and political theory, such as the influence
\nhis own experience had in his worldview,
\nthe finding out of the ordoamoris as a
\nmetaphysics of existence and the needful consequence
\nof setting the love of God as the very
\nbasis of civilization. Finally, as a projection
\nof Saint Augustine\u2019s thought to our time, the
\narticle reflects on the need of generating creative
\nminority groups, of joining together the
\nvision of faith and the vision of reality, and
\nof working in charity<\/p>\n
