El cultivo de su pensamiento es as\u00ed cerrado a la realidad y a todos los dem\u00e1s sistemas de pensamiento. Escol\u00e1stica, en un segundo sentido, significa lo que se ense\u00f1aba en las escuelas de la baja Edad media \u2013y que despu\u00e9s se convirtieron en las universidades medievales\u2013, las llamadas &#8220;artes liberales&#8221; y la teolog\u00eda. La escol\u00e1stica era propia y primeramente la teolog\u00eda, aunque se serv\u00eda de instrumentos y metodolog\u00edas racionales. De ah\u00ed que se llame tambi\u00e9n escol\u00e1stica a la filosof\u00eda medieval.
